Food & Dining
At all our Mansfield Care Group care homes, you’ll be sure to eat well. Good food is a vital part of health and wellbeing, and you’ll enjoy restaurant-quality cuisine cooked fresh in-house by our resident chefs.
Residents enjoy three home-cooked meals each day, as well as morning coffee, afternoon tea and supper snacks. Home baking is served at least once a day, and we also cater for special diets.
Menus are discussed and chosen with residents and are on a four-week rotation. Typically, the preferred emphasis is traditional Scottish home cooking and baking, though we also hold special themed meals and celebrations. There’s always a choice of main meals, as well as salads and other options if you’d prefer something else.
OUR DINING ROOMS
Our dining rooms are beautifully decorated, bright and uplifting spaces where you can feel at home and enjoy meals and companionship with the other residents. There’s a menu with choices and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere – after all, this is your home!
We have worked with university consultants specialising in elderly care to design thoughtful dining spaces that are attractive, welcoming and dementia-friendly. From table cloths to napkins, cutlery to crockery all items are carefully chosen to be user-friendly as well as stylish.
Staff and facilities are on hand, and if you need anything, just ask.
THE PLEASURE OF MEALTIMES
Meals are so important for wellbeing and companionship, and we encourage everyone to get together at least once a day for a shared lunch. This gives residents the chance for a catchup and a social focus for the day. Family and friends are welcome to come along, too.
Other meals can be taken in the lounge or your room if you prefer, and coffees, teas and home baking are also offered in between. Some rooms also have tea-making facilities. At all other times, just ask.
SPECIAL CELEBRATIONS & WORLD CUISINES
Our inspiring chefs play an active part in the community life of each home and enjoy cooking up themed meals and treats for special occasions. As well as birthday and celebration cakes, they have also held world cuisine nights, including Italian, French and Chinese, sometimes as part of themed activity weeks. Seasonal celebrations include Christmas dinners, summer barbecues and picnics, and hands-on cookery crafts for residents to enjoy, such as Easter cake and chocolate animal decorating.
