Belhaven House

a beautiful traditional sandstone building in the Scottish seaside town of Troon

Belhaven House is in a stunning location opposite Royal Troon Golf Club, overlooking the links and out to sea towards Arran. Residents enjoy plenty of sea air, bird life and spectacular sunsets.

Belhaven House is a stylish home with large windows letting in plenty of light, and a first-floor lounge with a lovely view of the sea and links. It has a private garden and sitooterie and is in easy reach of cafés and shops in Troon. The home has space for up to 34 residents (33 single rooms and one potential double), with 26 en-suite rooms on the ground floor.

COMMUNITY
Belhaven House is a friendly, relaxed home where residents with a wide range of abilities can make the most of the seaside surroundings. In summer, residents enjoy welcoming family and friends to the marquee garden party, and the home also has links to Troon primary school and the local churches, who take it in turns to hold a service once a month. Many residents also enjoy going to the Troon Tea Dance.

Other popular community visitors include the Troon Tartan Ladies for country dancing and singing, and the Give a Dog A Bone charity, which offers pet therapy, reflexology and mindfulness activities as well as dog-walking and café visits with residents. Many people living at Belhaven House come from the local area, Ayrshire and Glasgow, while others come from further afield. Most residents require physical assistance, and a few need dementia support.

ACTIVITIES
Belhaven House is an active home offering something to suit everyone. We have hosted belly dancers, yoga and zumba, and a nearby choir leader gives singing and music lessons once a fortnight, including breathing, harmonies and rhythm. Social interaction and mental exercise are also encouraged, and we hold friendly group sessions each morning with conversation balls. Residents who enjoy rugby are supported to go and watch Marr College games, and the local theatre offers dementia-friendly shows.

Other favourite activities have included a ten-week Italian course with themed meals including pizza, tiramisu and limoncello, organised with help from our two chefs. Our chefs also help with tasty craft activities, including cupcakes and chocolate animal shapes for decorating. Residents have also enjoyed painting mugs and egg cups for Easter.
