Peebles Care Home is a small, very sociable residential care home in the heart of Peebles in the Scottish Borders, with spectacular views of Tweed Green and the River Tweed. It has recently been beautifully renovated to an exceptionally high standard, and has space for up to 31 residents.
Peebles Care Home is a bright, warm home with spacious lounge and dining areas leading out onto the gardens, and generous rooms with underfloor heating. It is within easy reach of Peebles town centre and its bustling shops, cafés and art galleries, as well as Peebles Eastgate Theatre. It has a friendly, lively atmosphere and is managed by Dawn Barrett and her team.
COMMUNITY
Peebles Care Home is an active place with strong links to the local community. Visitors pop in and out every day, and children and dog walkers are regular passers-by. Tweed Green is a hub of town life in the summer, with events including TweedLove bicycle festival, wood carving and outdoor movies.
Many residents have local connections, some come from further afield, and they have a mix of physical and dementia support needs. Peebles Care Home has a keen inter-generational ethos, and children from Priorsford Primary School visit each week for reading classes with residents. The home also supports the town rickshaw project by Love Bikes voluntary organisation. In summer, residents enjoying sitting out front for the river views, or at the back in the secluded garden.
ACTIVITIES
Many Peebles Care Home residents enjoying going out on trips, with favourites including Dawyck Botanical Gardens and Peebles Hydro, as well as nearby shops and cafés. Favourite activities include seated yoga, film nights, concerts, music therapy and arts and crafts, as well as themed parties and celebrations of events such as Chinese New Year and Guy Fawkes. Peebles has also taken pet therapy to an unusual extreme with a miniature Shetland pony! These events also attract friends and relatives.
