Hallowe’en Pumpkins at Peebles Care Home

Posted on 10 November 2021

At Peebles Care Home, the residents have been celebrating Scottish Hallowe’en, with Wellbeing Coordinator Claire running craft workshops. A special highlight was her inflatable pumpkin costume, which brightened everyone’s day!

As Claire explained: “Keeping everyone happy and sharing experiences is an important part of my job. Becoming a giant orange pumpkin for the day and seeing our residents laughing and smiling makes it all worthwhile.”

“This year we used mini broomsticks for a themed exercise activity of batting a balloon around the care home lounge. Simple activities like that can make all the difference in keeping everyone engaged and part of the care home community.”

“Traditional dookin for apples isn’t really practical for our residents, so dropping a fork on to the apples is a better option and just as fun”, said Claire.

She said Peebles Care Home residents are also enjoying weekly trips to the nearby Eastgate Theatre for musical activities including singalongs. “The next big event is Christmas and we’ve got plenty of activities lined up for the festive season!”

Many thanks to Mansfield Care Homes staff for the lovely photos.
