Belleville Lodge is a beautiful stone villa with a sympathetic modern extension, set within award-winning private walled gardens. The care home offers space for up to 25 residents, including some twin rooms. It is managed by Michelle Wade and her team, who are dedicated to creating a supportive, family-style environment where everyone feels valued. The combination of historic character and thoughtful modern design gives Belleville Lodge a warm and distinctive charm that residents and families immediately notice. Spacious bedrooms and shared areas provide comfort and privacy, while the gardens offer a peaceful green retreat in the heart of the city.
COMMUNITY
Belleville Lodge is home to people from a wide range of backgrounds, and has a calm, welcoming atmosphere. The home is an established part of the local community, with good links to local churches and in-house church services twice a month. The neighbours enjoy coming round for the annual garden party, and residents also have regular visits from local school children for arts and crafts activities and concerts. Families are always encouraged to be part of life at Belleville, whether joining for events, outings or simply dropping in for a chat over coffee.
The location in the heart of Edinburgh makes it easy for residents to enjoy theatre shows and art gallery visits, as well as the Edinburgh arts festivals. Friends and family are welcome to join us for outings and afternoon tea, and we help residents to use Skype to keep in touch with loved ones further afield. The central setting also means residents benefit from excellent transport links, so it’s easy for relatives to visit regularly and stay connected.
ACTIVITIES
Activities are led by residents’ own wishes, with favourite outings including Dobbie’s garden centre, trips on the barge at Ratho, and the nearby Salisbury Arms bistro. We also have music and movement classes and a visiting hairdresser once a week, and poetry reading fortnightly.
In summer, the private gardens are popular for sitting out, afternoon teas and barbecues, and residents also enjoy playing outdoor games such as croquet. Seasonal celebrations, from Christmas gatherings to spring planting in the garden, ensure there is always something to look forward to. Residents are also encouraged to continue personal hobbies, whether that’s reading, crafts, or enjoying quiet time in the conservatory. The balance of activity, companionship, and independence makes Belleville Lodge a truly special place to call home.
