Belleville Lodge raises charity funds with sponsored Meadows tour
Posted on 19 April 2022
Belleville Lodge Care Home in Edinburgh recently raised close to £1,000 for a local dementia charity, thanks to a successful sponsored walk and wheelchair push around The Meadows in the city centre.
Half a dozen Belleville Lodge residents were brought down to the Meadows by wheelchair-accessible taxi firm Handicabs, where relatives and Mansfield Care Homes staff met them for a lap of the park. A couple of family dogs even came along for the exercise! A halfway stop at the Pavilion café for tea gave everyone a chance for a good blether and a catch-up.
Belleville Lodge Matron, Margaret Russell said, “Everyone had a lovely day in spring sunshine and it was nice for the residents to be outside with their relatives. It was a welcome change of scenery and there was plenty to see, what with the cyclists, daffodils, dog walkers, students and children in the playpark! We were delighted to raise £950 for local dementia charity LifeCare, thanks to everyone’s fund-raising efforts.”
Many thanks to Mansfield Care Homes staff for the lovely photos.
