Galahill Woll Visit Santa And Vera Mansfield Care

Christmas outings at Mansfield Care

Posted on 18 December 2019

In the run-up to Christmas, some of the residents at Mansfield Care Homes have been out and about on festive visits.

Delphine, Ian and Vera from Galahill House went to The Woll at Ashkirk for their Christmas lunch, thanks to the services of Gala Wheels community transport. Wellbeing Coordinator Tracey says everyone had a great day out. ‘There was a lovely atmosphere, including excellent entertainment, with an accordion player and a choir singing Christmas songs. Ian loves to go out and had a dance later on. We were lucky enough to bump into Santa, who stopped by to drop off presents!’ Bill and Sam are also pictured on their try-out of a donated mobility scooter around Galahill House.

At Eildon House, December was equally busy with a visit to the Winter Wonderland Experience, says Wellbeing Coordinator  Fiona. “This was good fun with a lot of laughter and a wee tray of chips, which went down very well. All the stalls provided interesting goods for sale. One of our residents, Margaret (97) enjoyed sampling gin-flavoured cheese (just a wee piece!). Feedback comments included:

“I had a wonderful time and it was not cold. Thank you so much for taking me… I could go on that high fast speed car twirly thing… I like that sort of thing!!”

Eildon House residents also enjoyed a trip to Stockbridge for carol singing at Lifecare, where Janie sang a solo verse, followed by a huge round of applause. Says Fiona: “Janie was over the moon and had a beaming smile on her face all the way back to Eildon House. It confirms how empowering music and singing are for many people.”

For Peebles Care Home residents, “the highlight of our Christmas Advent was our magnificent trip to the Peebles Crieff Hydro Hotel for festive afternoon tea,” says Wellbeing Coordinator Gemma. “We were greeted like VIPs on our arrival, and given five-star treatment all afternoon.”

Many thanks to Mansfield Care staff and residents for the lovely photos.
