Valentines and Melba at Belleville Lodge
Posted on 20 February 2021
Themed days are often celebrated at Mansfield Care Homes, and Belleville Lodge enjoyed their traditional Australia Day complete with barbecue lunch again this year. Matron Margaret Russell says, “Everyone enjoyed the barbecue lunch, followed by Peach Melba for dessert. In the afternoon, we all enjoyed an afternoon tea and heard some interesting facts about Australia. Did you know Peach Melba was invented in 1892 by a French chef in honour of the Australian Soprano singer Nellie Melba?”
For Valentine’s Day, there was a theme of “love is all around”, and the chef prepared a special lunch, followed by residents enjoying a Dedicate a Heart activity to put on display in the community, says Margaret. “A few of our residents dictated a heart to a loved one, and our local shop put them in their window for all to see. I dedicated one to my wonderful staff at Belleville Lodge.”
Many thanks to Mansfield Care Homes staff and residents for the lovely photos.
