Valentine’s Day always a popular celebration at Mansfield Care Homes
Posted on 17 February 2024
Regular events and celebrations are a key activity at Mansfield Care Homes, where they help give everyone landmarks in the calendar to look forward to and take part in each month. Valentine’s Day brightens up the end of winter in the company of good friends and lovely food. Both Pine Villa Care Home in Loanhead, Midlothian and Peebles Care Home in the Scottish Borders celebrated Valentine’s Day this year.
For 2024’s special occasion Pine Villa was specially decorated with red roses on the tables and heart-shaped bunting in the dining-room. The residents enjoyed a variety of activities beginning with a Valentine’s Day meal prepared by Pine Villa’s own chef.
Pine Villa manager Margaret Russell said, “Everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch with a menu of beef bourguignon or chicken balmoral followed by a trio of desserts and washed down with a glass of rose prosecco. Afterwards, residents brought along their wedding photos and talked about their special day, what they wore, how many bridesmaids they had, where they went on honeymoon etc.” Everyone really enjoyed the afternoon which was rounded off with a Valentine’s themed afternoon tea.
Over at Peebles Care Home, activity coordinator Karen Ritchie organised their event, “We prepared for Valentine’s Day by making heart wreaths and cards. We had a lovely Valentine’s lunch with rose petals and candles on the table. At the end of the lunch each resident was presented with a red rose and a short love poem. The residents shared these poems with each other. To round off the afternoon we welcomed a group from the local community to sing some love songs.”
Thank you to Mansfield Care staff for the lovely photos.
