Valentine’s Day at Mansfield Care

Posted on 20 February 2020

Belleville Lodge and St John’s in Melrose were among the Mansfield Care Homes to celebrate Valentine’s Day this year, and have sent some lovely pictures. Belleville Matron Margaret says, “Everyone enjoyed the Valentine’s Day lunch with a glass of pink bubbles. The dining room was decorated with hearts and red roses, and everyone said it looked just lovely”.

“In the afternoon, we enjoyed a Valentine-themed afternoon tea. Everyone brought along a picture of their wife or husband, and we chatted about how they had met and their wedding day. Boyd also played some romantic tunes on his violin, which everyone enjoyed. Mardie’s favourite song is The Northern Lights of Old Aberdeen, and Boyd played this while Mardie sang along.”

“Everyone also enjoyed the special Valentines cake and the delicious chocolate dipped strawberries. One of our local shops also had a display to Dedicate a Heart. A few of our residents did this and their heart was displayed in the shop window.”

St John’s residents also got into the Valentine’s spirit, says Wellness Coordinator Denise. “We had a lovely high tea and baked heart-shaped biscuits, which were great favourites. Some of the ladies also enjoyed doing heart-theme metal craft activities.”

Many thanks to Mansfield Care Homes staff for the lovely photos.
